About the Artist

Marissa Mason is a Colorado-based mixed-media artist whose work blends watercolor, ink, and textured mediums to create expressive landscapes and aviation-inspired pieces. Her paintings combine the structure of aircraft with the movement of natural forms, utilizing swirling linework and layered textures that have become her signature style.

Working on Claybord (kaolin clay-coated masonite board), Marissa explores the quiet drama found in skies, mountains, and aerial terrain. Her aviation pieces strike a balance between technical accuracy and dreamlike abstraction, while her landscapes capture the color, rhythm, and energy of the natural world.

Background

Originally from Arkansas, Marissa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art with a minor in Photography before moving to Denver in 2011. Her artistic career has grown in tandem with her love of aviation—she has spent over 100 hours observing flight training, studying aircraft systems, and flying small planes. These experiences inform the precision and realism in her aircraft work.

When she isn’t painting, she teaches, climbs, and studies for aviation instructor certifications.

Style & Approach

Marissa’s artwork is deeply influenced by movement—wind patterns, shifting clouds, climbing routes, river bends, and the feeling of flight. Her patterned linework acts as both topography and imagination, weaving together the structured and organic elements found in nature and aerial perspectives.

Each piece is created with professional archival materials, then reproduced as museum-quality fine art prints and canvas prints for collectors.
